By using this website you agree to these Part A terms. If you would rather not, please don't use the site — you are very welcome to call us instead.

This site describes our services and lets you request an estimate.

Nothing on it is an offer to carry out work at a stated price, and submitting a form does not create a contract or oblige either of us to anything. A contract exists only once we have inspected your roof, given you a written estimate, and you have accepted it in writing.

We try to keep everything on this site accurate and current. But the cost guidance, timelines and advice published here are general information about roofing — not advice about your roof. Every roof is different, and the only reliable figure is the one in a written estimate prepared after someone has actually looked at yours.

Please don't rely on this website in an emergency. If water is coming into your home, or you are worried about the structure, call us. If there is any risk to someone's safety, call the appropriate emergency service first.

Please give us accurate contact and property details — we can't prepare a sensible estimate otherwise.

What we do with the information you send us is set out in our Privacy Policy. Please don't use our forms to send anything unlawful or abusive, and please don't submit someone else's details without their permission.

Please don't attempt to interfere with this site or its security, scrape or bulk-copy its content, use it to send unsolicited commercial messages, or misrepresent who you are. We may restrict access if any of that happens.

The text, photographs, designs and logos on this site belong to us or are used with permission, and are protected by copyright.

You are welcome to view, print and share pages for your own purposes. You will need our written permission to copy or republish them commercially. Our project photographs show our own work and may not be used by others.

We link to manufacturers, municipal building departments and other useful resources. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content or their privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.

We may update, suspend or withdraw parts of this website at any time. We don't guarantee it will always be available or free of errors.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under Ontario or Canadian law — including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002.

Subject to that, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of this website or from reliance on the general information it contains.

This section is about the website only. Our responsibilities on an actual roofing project are set out in the written agreement you sign with us.

We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top tells you which version applies. Changes do not affect a contract you have already signed.

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer, this does not take away any right you have under Ontario consumer protection law, including your right to make a complaint to the provincial ministry responsible for consumer protection.

We inspect at no charge and with no obligation.

Every job starts with someone getting up on the roof, photographing what we find, and giving you a written estimate that sets out the scope, the materials, the price and an expected timeline. If your roof has good years left in it, we will tell you that rather than quote a replacement you don't need yet.

Written estimates are valid for 30 days from the date we issue them.

HST. We are registered for HST. Our estimates show the price for the work and the HST as separate lines, so you can see the total before you agree to anything.

If you sign an agreement with us anywhere other than our place of business — at your home, for example — Ontario law gives you 10 days to cancel, for any reason. The 10 days run from the day you receive your written copy of the agreement. You do not need to give us a reason, and you do not need our agreement.

We sign agreements both in person and electronically depending on the job. We apply this 10-day right to every residential agreement we enter into, however it was signed, so there is never any argument about which rule applied to your project.

To cancel, tell us in writing within those 10 days. Email to info@windsorroofingpros.com is fine. We recommend sending it in a way that gives you a record. Where you have paid us anything, we will refund it within 15 days.

Ontario law also gives you a longer right to cancel — up to one year — in certain situations, including where the written agreement is missing information the law requires it to contain, or where a false or misleading statement was made to you about it. If you think that applies to your agreement, tell us and we will deal with it properly.

After the 10 days. If you want to cancel later, talk to us. What we can do depends on what we have already ordered, scheduled or carried out, and we will be straightforward with you about it rather than pointing at a clause.

Deposits vary with the size of the job. The amount, and when it is due, is set out on your written agreement — there are no deposit terms that are not on the paper you sign.

Typically a deposit covers materials when your project is scheduled, with the balance due after the work is finished and we have walked the job with you.

We accept payment by cheque and electronic transfer. We do not take card payments.

Once the old shingles come off, we sometimes find things nobody could see from the surface — rotted decking, damaged rafters, or moisture that has been getting in for a while.

When that happens, work stops. Our supervisor photographs the affected area, explains what it means, and gives you a written change order with the cost before any additional work starts.

No extra work happens, and nothing extra is charged, without your written approval first.

We install to the requirements of the Ontario Building Code.

Some roofing work needs a municipal building permit and some doesn't — it depends on the work and on the municipality. A straight like-for-like replacement is usually treated differently from anything structural.

We will tell you before we start whether your job needs a permit. Who applies for it, and how the fee is handled, is something we agree with you during the estimate and set out in your written agreement, because it varies from job to job and from municipality to municipality.

To work safely we need access to the roof, the ground around the building, and the driveway during working hours — and sometimes to the attic, if we are tracing a leak.

Before we start, please move vehicles off the driveway, keep pets indoors, and take down anything fragile hanging on walls beneath the roof deck. Tear-off causes vibration through the whole structure.

If you are not the owner — if you rent, or the property is a condominium, or it is managed on someone else's behalf — please make sure whoever needs to authorise the work has done so before we arrive.

Roofing depends on the weather, and we will not leave a roof open with rain coming. Start dates can move, particularly in storm season.

We will keep you informed. A weather delay is not a breach by either of us, and if a delay runs long enough to become a problem for you, talk to us and we will work it out.

We tarp landscaping and use ground protection around the work area, and we run magnetic sweeps of the driveway and lawn before we leave. We aim to leave your property cleaner than we found it.

If we miss something — and occasionally a nail hides in the grass — call us and we will come back and deal with it.

There are two separate warranties on a roof, and the difference matters.

Our workmanship warranty covers how the roof was installed — our work, not the materials. We stand behind our installations, and the term and conditions of that cover are set out in your written agreement. Ask about it during the estimate; we would rather you understood it before you signed than after something went wrong.

The manufacturer's material warranty covers the shingles or membrane themselves. It is given by the manufacturer, not by us, and it applies on the manufacturer's own terms. Those terms usually carry conditions — things like registration deadlines, ventilation requirements, or buying a complete system rather than individual components. We will tell you which product warranty applies to your roof, give you the documentation, and register it where registration is required.

Neither warranty covers damage from causes outside the roof itself: storm damage beyond the rated limits of the materials installed, impact damage, alterations made to the roof by others, or failure to maintain it.

Nothing in either warranty affects the rights you have under Ontario consumer protection law.

We carry commercial general liability insurance. A current certificate is available on request before work begins.

We are registered with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. Some of our crews are subcontractors rather than employees, and we obtain a current WSIB clearance certificate from every subcontractor before they start work on your property.

You can ask us for our certificate of insurance and our WSIB clearance before work begins, and we will provide them. We would encourage you to ask — of us, and of anyone else you are considering. Any roofing contractor who hesitates when asked has told you something useful.

Our crews work to Ontario's health and safety requirements for working at heights.

We are responsible for our own work, and for damage we cause.

Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under Ontario or Canadian law — including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002.

We are not responsible for conditions that already existed and that we did not cause. That includes interior damage from moisture that was getting in before we arrived, damage from a storm exceeding the rated limits of the materials installed, and problems created by someone else altering our work after we finished. Where we find pre-existing damage, we photograph it and tell you about it.

Call us first. Most problems are quicker to fix than to argue about, and we would much rather hear it from you than read it in a review.

If we cannot sort it out between us, you keep every right you have under Ontario law — including making a complaint to the provincial ministry responsible for consumer protection, and taking the matter to court. Claims of this size are usually heard in Ontario's Small Claims Court.

Your agreement with us is governed by the laws of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction.

Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by anything in that agreement or on this page.
